Welcome to the April 2026 edition of our global AI update.


This month, the AI landscape didn’t just evolve, it scaled at an unprecedented pace. From record-breaking funding rounds to deeper enterprise integrations and national-level infrastructure bets, the focus is clearly shifting toward building long-term AI ecosystems. What stands out is how quickly AI is becoming foundational, not just a tool, but core infrastructure for business, creativity, and even public policy. Big Tech is doubling down on partnerships, governments are investing in compute and talent, and enterprises are moving from pilots to production-grade systems.


In short, April signals a transition from adoption to acceleration, where execution, scale, and control define the next phase of AI.


Here are the key developments shaping this shift.


OpenAI - $122B Funding Round



OpenAI announced that it closed a $122 billion Series D funding round at an $852 billion valuation. 


The round was led by strategic partners Amazon, NVIDIA, and SoftBank, with continued participation from Microsoft and major VC/institutional investors (a16z, Fidelity, Sequoia, ARK, etc.). 


Remarkably, OpenAI even opened a small portion of the raise to retail investors via bank channels. This massive influx of capital will accelerate OpenAI’s growth in consumer and enterprise AI. 


According to the announcement, ChatGPT now has ~900 million weekly users and $2B in monthly revenue, and the company recently deployed its most capable model (GPT-5.4) and enhanced its Codex coding assistant. OpenAI emphasizes that scale of compute infrastructure (and diversified partnerships) is central to its strategy. This funding allows OpenAI to expand beyond a few cloud providers, deepen its NVIDIA GPU collaboration, and invest in global compute capacity.


In short, the round cements OpenAI’s role as core AI infrastructure for apps and business systems.

Microsoft & Publicis Groupe - Agentic Marketing Platform



On April 8, 2026, Microsoft and Publicis Groupe expanded their 2021 partnership to build AI-driven marketing solutions. 


The new deal combines Publicis’s creative services and data (via Epsilon) with Microsoft’s Azure cloud and Copilot AI tools. All 35,000 Publicis employees will get Copilot access, and Publicis will migrate key workloads to Azure. Together they are co-developing “agentic” marketing assistants (for campaign ideation, content creation, and analytics) within Board’s planning software and Microsoft Foundry environment. 


For example, their pilots include AI agents that can parse budget spreadsheets and auto-generate marketing insights, or autonomously plan and optimize ad campaigns. 


The partnership highlights how enterprises are embedding AI agents into core workflows: these agents will use Publicis’s proprietary data and comply with customers’ policies, providing audit trails and governance. 


Microsoft says the goal is to deliver faster ROI by having AI “understand customers’ data, processes, and policies” instead of one-size-fits-all bots. In effect, Publicis + Microsoft aims to usher in “marketing as software” at scale - infusing AI directly into campaign execution and reporting.

Adobe & NVIDIA - Creative AI Partnership



Adobe and NVIDIA announced a deep strategic alliance focused on AI-powered creative and marketing workflows. 


The companies will develop the next-generation Adobe Firefly models (for image, video, and 3D content) using NVIDIA’s GPUs, CUDA-X and NeMo AI libraries. This collaboration aims to bring “best-in-class precision and control” to generative creative tools. 

In addition, Adobe will leverage NVIDIA’s Agent Toolkit (OpenShell, Nemotron) to build agentic AI workflows for marketing and production speed. 


For example, they’re creating a cloud-native 3D “digital twin” solution using NVIDIA Omniverse, so brands can generate brand-consistent 3D product imagery for advertising. Adobe Firefly Foundry (enterprise custom AI) will also integrate NVIDIA’s tech for safe, IP-protected content generation. Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen emphasized that NVIDIA’s compute power will turbocharge Adobe’s suite (Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat, etc.), while NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang said this partnership takes their 20-year collaboration to “a new level” of AI innovation. 


In short, the Adobe-NVIDIA deal signals that media and marketing are being reimagined by AI: scalable, controllable creative tools and document intelligence will enter every stage of content pipelines.

Microsoft - Three New MAI Models in Foundry



Microsoft unveiled three new AI models (MAI-Transcribe-1, MAI-Voice-1, MAI-Image-2) on its Azure Foundry platform. 


MAI-Transcribe-1 is a state-of-the-art speech-to-text model covering the world’s top 25 languages; it is 2.5× faster than Microsoft’s previous service and leads accuracy benchmarks. MAI-Voice-1 is a high-fidelity text-to-speech model that can capture speaker identity; it can even create a custom voice from a few seconds of audio and generates 60 seconds of speech in just one second. MAI-Image-2 is an image generation model that delivers top-quality, photorealistic outputs twice as fast as earlier versions. 


NVIDIA’s speed-ups and WPP (world’s largest ad agency) are already using MAI-Image-2 at scale. Microsoft offers these models at competitive prices in Foundry and its MAI Playground. 


In practice, customers can now build copilots and agents that transcribe meetings, synthesize lifelike speech, or generate marketing visuals with high efficiency. These launches underscore Microsoft’s strategy: provide in-house AI infrastructure on Azure, emphasizing performance and security (with built-in governance controls). Copilot and Bing products are already adopting these models, so Microsoft’s enterprise users can leverage them directly in their apps and workflows.

NVIDIA & Google - Gemini 4 Optimized for RTX (Agentic AI)



On April 2, 2026, NVIDIA announced that it had co-optimized Google DeepMind’s new Gemma 4 family for local and edge deployment. 


Gemma 4 (E2B, E4B, 26B, 31B parameter variants) are compact, multimodal

models designed for on-device reasoning, coding, vision, and audio tasks. NVIDIA and Google have worked together to tune Gemma 4 for NVIDIA GPUs ranging from RTX PCs to the DGX Spark supercomputer and Jetson edge modules. The smaller E2B/E4B models run offline with near-zero latency, while the larger 26B and 31B models deliver state-of-the-art reasoning for agentic workflows. 


Crucially, these optimized Gemma models enable “always-on” local AI assistants-  NVIDIA’s OpenClaw platform now supports Gemma 4, letting developers create personal AI agents that draw context from user files and applications. The practical upshot is that enterprises and creators can run Google’s latest LLMs on-prem and at the edge with NVIDIA hardware, reducing latency and improving privacy. 


This move reflects the industry shift to decentralized AI: not all AI processing happens in the cloud. By bundling Gemma 4 into its RTX ecosystem, NVIDIA is extending the frontier of agentic AI to PCs and embedded devices.

Microsoft - $5.5B Investment in Singapore’s AI Future



On April 1, 2026, Microsoft announced a $5.5 billion investment in Singapore over 2025 - 2029 to bolster the city-state’s AI infrastructure and talent. 


This package includes expanding Microsoft’s cloud and AI datacenter presence locally. As part of the plan, every Singaporean tertiary student will get free Microsoft 365 Copilot (AI-powered Office apps), and teachers/nonprofits receive free AI training under Microsoft Elevate programs. 


Brad Smith (Microsoft President) said this reflects long-term confidence in Singapore as a “global digital leader.” The Singapore government welcomed the initiative as reinforcing its #2 AI readiness ranking. In effect, Microsoft is cementing Singapore’s role as an Asia-Pacific AI hub by funding infrastructure and upskilling the workforce. 


This deal underscores a trend: cloud providers are partnering with national governments to advance AI adoption - aligning commercial interests with public policy on innovation and education.

Google - Lyria 3 Pro (Music Generation Model)



Google DeepMind unveiled Lyria 3 Pro on March 25, 2026- an upgraded AI music model that generates songs up to 3 minutes with fine-grained structure (intros, verses, choruses, bridges). 


Lyria 3 Pro “understands musical composition” to allow users to specify elements (e.g. “add a guitar solo”) when prompting. Google is integrating Lyria 3 Pro into various products: it’s in public preview on Vertex AI (for enterprise audio needs) and Google AI Studio, and is now available in the consumer Gemini app and YouTube’s Google Vids editor. 


For example, content creators can use Lyria 3 Pro in Google Vids to add custom music tracks to videos. Google stresses that outputs are watermark-identified for copyright safety. In short, Lyria 3 Pro brings AI-assisted music production to Google’s ecosystem: creators from artists to marketers can now compose longer, polished soundtracks via Google’s cloud. 


This continues Google’s strategy of releasing AI tools that blend into everyday creative workflows (analogous to how its image and text models appear in Docs/Maps).

Google - Gemini 3.1 Flash Live (Real-time Voice AI)



Alongside Flash-Lite, Google also released Gemini 3.1 Flash Live - a new ultra-low-latency voice AI model for conversational experiences. 


Flash Live is optimized for real-time audio: Google says it’s “fast and sharp enough to feel like a real conversation,” with minimal lag. It is already powering Search Live and Gemini Live in 200+ countries. 


The model allows apps to take microphone input and produce live AI-generated speech responses instantly. This opens up new use cases for hands-free assistants and interactive voice agents.


For instance, developers can build tools that listen via webcam or voice and give spoken answers or live guidance. By cutting down response delay and boosting accuracy, Gemini Flash Live makes voice-based AI more reliable for customer service, on-device help, and IoT devices. 


In essence, this release shows Google extending its multimodal suite into conversational AI - ensuring that its ecosystem has both fast text/chat models (Flash-Lite) and fast voice/chat agents (Flash Live) for developers and enterprises alike.

 IBM & NVIDIA - Expanded Enterprise AI Collaboration



IBM announced an expanded partnership with NVIDIA to help enterprises move from AI experiments to production-scale deployment. 


The alliance covers everything from data analytics to infrastructure. Notably, IBM’s watsonx.data platform now integrates NVIDIA GPUs (via the cuDF library) for SQL analytics. In a proof-of-concept with Nestlé’s global data mart, this GPU-accelerated system cut a complex refresh workload from 15 minutes on CPU to just 3 minutes - a 30× speedup. 


The collaboration also includes “Docling” (IBM’s document ingestion tool) paired with NVIDIA’s Nemotron AI models to rapidly convert unstructured documents into AI-ready formats. To address regulated industries, IBM will offer NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs on IBM Cloud and integrate NVIDIA compute into Red Hat’s AI Factory, ensuring data residency and compliance. 


IBM CEO Arvind Krishna says the partnership “goes to the heart” of moving AI from pilot to scale. In summary, IBM+NVIDIA is delivering GPU-native enterprise AI: high-performance data pipelines, end-to-end AI stacks on-premise, and consulting services to accelerate AI adoption in banking, healthcare, supply chain, and beyond.

NVIDIA & Marvell - NVLink Fusion Ecosystem



On March 31, 2026, NVIDIA announced a strategic partnership with Marvell Technology to extend the NVIDIA NVLink Fusion™ AI infrastructure platform. 


Under this deal, NVIDIA invested $2 billion in Marvell. Marvell will supply custom XPUs (AI-optimized processors) and high-speed networking that are compatible with NVIDIA’s NVLink ecosystem, while NVIDIA contributes its GPUs, DPUs (BlueField), NICs, and Spectrum switches. 


The goal is to offer customers a flexible “rack-scale” AI design- companies can now mix Marvell’s chips into a data center architecture that seamlessly works with NVIDIA’s computing and networking gear. The two also plan to collaborate on AI-driven telecom infrastructure (5G/6G AI-RAN) and optical interconnect technology. Jensen Huang framed the deal as giving customers “greater choice” to build specialized AI compute, addressing surging demand for processing power. 


In practice, this means cloud and enterprise users can leverage NVIDIA’s entire software stack while integrating Marvell silicon - an example of how computing hardware companies are co-innovating to meet the scaling needs of AI.

Commerce & Energy Depts (USA) - SoftBank 10 GW AI Data Center



The U.S. Department of Commerce and Department of Energy announced a landmark public-private initiative with SoftBank’s SB Energy and AEP Ohio to build massive power and AI infrastructure. 


The plan uses former DOE land in Portsmouth, Ohio, to develop 10 GW of data center capacity alongside 10 GW of new power generation (9.2 GW natural gas). Importantly, Japanese investors are funding $33.3B of this build-out, ensuring it costs nothing extra to U.S. consumers. 


The upgraded grid (with $4.2B from SB Energy for new transmission lines) will lower electricity costs regionally. Officials argue this project will “power America’s AI future” by providing abundant, reliable energy for AI compute (data centers), while creating thousands of jobs. 


SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son said it strengthens U.S. AI leadership. In essence, this deal signals that governments see AI as a national priority: by securing on-site power and land for next-gen data centers, the U.S. is emulating other nations in building the physical infrastructure needed for large-scale AI development.

Looking Ahead

As we move into May 2026, the emphasis will be on operational AI. Expect more focus on implementation: companies will start reporting concrete results from these partnerships and infrastructure projects, while new enterprise AI products come online. 


On the model side, innovation will center on agentic and domain-specific tools (e.g. AI in healthcare or finance) rather than just larger general models. 


We’ll likely see continued pressure to diversify AI hardware (more NVIDIA deals, ARM-based chips, specialized AI hardware). On the regulatory front, governments will start translating AI and data policies into action - for example, drafting AI energy standards or finalizing governance frameworks. 


The key for businesses will be differentiating between short-term experiments and strategic AI transformation: firms that integrate these developments into core processes (from marketing to manufacturing) will pull ahead, while others risk falling behind. 


The next wave of announcements will reveal which organizations are building scalable, compliant AI “systems” rather than isolated pilots.
